Firstly, to get this outta the way, (from Marcie's review) "Is the Mafia hiring assassins to whack him or something?"

No, not a mafia.

Me.

Okay, now about the show. It's dark, dingy (pronounced dingee not dinjee), and has robots. Stereotypical Japanese robots. Meaning they have individually-controllable fingers and probably toes underneath its removable boots. Yeah. Also, you have to be psychic or something to control them, so of course the main character (I guess he's the main character. He's a geeky loser and will henceforth be referred to as "Bob") happens to have the ability to pilot this robot. Also, you have to have two psychos to pilot one (1) robot. Now why in the heck would somebody even build a robot that requires two freaks with psychic/telekinetic/psychotic/Japanese powers to control? I fail to see the logic. Help me out here, anybody. We also get to hear them scream "I have control!" many times throughout the episodes. It makes me want to put my foot through the TV. But there are some cool parts, like lab coats attacking Bob. And worms* attacking Bob. And little girls attacking Bob. Awesome slag. It also has Supermariokuu in it. (That's right. Supermariokuu.) He's a big guy with blue-ish kinda hair, a big mustache, and an orange jumpsuit he wears all of the time. Anyway, back to my favorite character--Bob. He apparently thinks he knows something because he identifies such obvious things for us, like MSG90s, SPAS12s, and Ospreys. But why in the world would a SWAT(??) team use MSG90s to blast away madly at a garage door? Why in the world would a SWAT(?!?) team even be blasting away at a garage door? SINCE WHEN ARE SWAT TEAMS PAID TO GO AROUND BLASTING GARAGE DOORS?! HELP ME PLEASE!!

Anyhow, the realism of this TV series is astonishing. The attention to detail, the correct gun names ("S-P-A-S autoshots and Heckler & Koch sniper rifles!!"), and the robots! How about a U.N.-backed bombing of some place in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (I think...) while our intrepid(?) heroes(?!) are inside? Isn't it great?!

Also, the psychos that pilot the ludicrous robots are referred to as divers. I dunno why. What are they diving for? How often do they dive? Wasn't there one episode where they went under water, and that was it? I'm confused. I'm done. Good bye.

* More like fat worm-like creatures that eat people, or something. I don't recall it being explained. It's like they're native to that part of the world.

Betterman. I swear dude, this is THE strangest anime. EVAR.
I mean, you have robots that are controlled by door knobs that are stuck in Strawberry Jell-O, you have guys who can transform into huge...rock...dragon...thingies, you have large amounts of techno babble, and you have women who are...uh...."unrealistic." Yeah, that's it.
Oh yeah, this is supposed to have some "horror" in it, but really, it's just all humor.

So...uh...yeah. It's like this throughout the whole series.
Lots of mystery like stuff...and then one whole episode that explains everything. That's the really boring part. Yep. This show is awesome though. Lots o' Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot Action. Lots of unrealisticly cute girls too. That's good...I mean...you know...if you're INTO that kind of stuff. I know I'M not...really...I mean it. Seriously.
Stop looking at me like that.

Pretty much, it begins with a normal.....geeky...dude. He likes to ride this little scooter thing and play games on some kind of PDA at the same time...and...it doesn't really work. He's almost run over by the same pick up truck every day...which is strange. Is the Mafia hiring assassins to whack him or something? Hmm....
Anyways, a new student comes to school that day, and it turns out to be some girl from his childhood he knew before she moved away. She has rainbow hair people. Yeah. I know. MESSED. UP. (Did you hear about that place that had people who liked to eat antiques? Yeah. I know. SCREWED. UP.)
